Yourtake.org In-service Workshop
While certainly not necessary in order to use yourtake.org effectively, this in-service workshop provides schools with a different way to either introduce the website and SCAN tool to first-time users or to extend and enhance their application for experienced users. The workshop is tailored to meet each school’s needs and objectives.
Participants leave the YourTake.org in–service workshop prepared to:
- Introduce and use SCAN as an instructional tool for: building student understanding of complex issues, highlighting differences in points of view and perspective, examining conflict, and identifying possible solutions.
- Use elements of yourtake.org for enhancing student problem-solving capabilities
- Identify areas of curriculum where yourtake.org would enhance student learning
Target Audience:
Middle and high school guidance counselors and teachers of Health, social studies, and/or life skills or related problem-solving electives (e.g. advisory, character education, transition classes, who are interested in building the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of their students.)
Key learning activities:
- Introduction to SCAN concepts
- Online demonstration and walkthrough of website features and tools
- Demo of setting up SCAN session
- Online practice on actual lesson from SCAN lesson library (computer accessibility permitting)

Decision Analysis: Making Good Choices Workshop
This workshop introduces teachers to Decision Analysis and related classroom materials and prepares participants to use the materials with students. The one-day version focuses on teaching Decision Analysis as a life skill. The two-day version looks at using Decision Analysis to enhance curriculum content.
Participants leave the “Decision Analysis: Making Good Choices” workshop prepared to:
- Teach Decision Analysis to students
- Use the Teacher and Student Handbooks effectively
- Teach a classroom lesson of their own design that incorporates Decision Analysis into curriculum content (two-day version)
Target Audience:
Teachers, staff or other adults who are interested in teaching decision-making to middle (secondary 1) or high school-age (secondary 2) children in schools or community service programs.
Key Learning Activities:
- Introduction to Decision Analysis concepts
- Small group practice on student-related scenarios
- Instructor coaching and feedback
- Use of student and teacher handbooks
- Development of classroom lesson (2-day version)

One day or two-day workshops are available.
Decision Analysis: Making Good Choices Teacher
& Student Handbooks
Tregoe Education Forum provides a comprehensive set of student and teacher materials for middle and high school levels (secondary I and II). These materials are designed for teachers who have attended a “Decision Analysis: Making Good Choices” workshop.
Our Student and Teacher materials:
- Help middle and high-school students and teachers learn and apply Decision Analysis
- Serve as a reference for students when using Decision Analysis inside or outside of class
- Allow students to practice on carefully-designed exercises
- Encourage successful application of Decision Analysis to life situations
- Provide teacher support for using Decision Analysis in a variety of ways
- Were developed and tested with student and teacher input
